The Ultimate Gin Library- ShortCross Gin
ShortCross Gin
Distillery: Rademon Estate Distillery, Downpatrick
Strength: 46%
ShortCross has done very well to create an impression in the market. The well designed packaging comes with a gloomy standard bottle but equipped with an outstanding and eye catching label. The detailed and letterpress printing label is noticed and savoured well before one decides to open the bottle. The gin has been made with love and tender care and this can be witnessed while tasting the quality gin.
ShortCross comes with a heavy black wax seal and it is rather time consuming to remove it from the bottle. It is rather a messy job to hack it with a knife, as it comes out in little bits of wax all over the place. No complaints as the end result is worth it.
This is the Northern Ireland’s first boutique gin and the novice distillers Fiona and David Boyd-Armstrong had gone into much pain to create this unique gin. The due care and efforts taken by the duo is apparent when sipping the gin.
The gin is produced using foraged wild clover, homegrown green apples, elderflowers and elderberries. It is sweet in nature but not too sugary and the final result is a spicy and herbal touch.
